Polyphenols and its Nano Formulations as Therapeutic Agents Against Parkinson's and Alzheimer's Dementia
摘要
Polyphenolic compounds are the secondary metabolites of plants that have been studied for their potential to prevent or delay neurodegenerative disorders. Nowadays plant-derived natural products are gaining significant attention due to their medicinal potential. Therefore, there is an increasing interest in the therapeutic potential of plant polyphenols in neurodegenerative diseases. Due to the instability and low bioavailability of polyphenols, encapsulating bioactive compounds into micro and nano-systems has been effective in avoiding degradation, boosting bioactivity and bioavailability, and enabling targeted administration. The current review summarizes the nano-formulations of plant polyphenols in the context of relevance to neurodegenerative diseases.
