摘要

Organic scintillators are capable of providing efficient gamma-ray and neutron detection in mixed neutron-gamma radiations field. The energy deposition due to Compton scattered electrons provides major contribution in response function due to presence of comparatively low atomic number (Z) elements in organic scintillators. In this work, organic scintillator EJ-315 is used to study the response functions with non-existence of full energy peaks of standard gamma radioisotopes: \(^{133}Ba\) , \(^{137}Cs\) and \(^{60}Co\) . The detector is calibrated using Compton edge of experimentally measured response function. A gamma unfolding procedure is utilized for unfurling measured as well as simulated response functions or complex gamma spectra. A Pulse Shape Discrimination (PSD) technique is developed to identify if the signal is generated by a gamma ray or a neutron.
