The Search for Beyond Standard Model Physics with the SBN Experiment at Fermilab

The goal of the Short Baseline Neutrino (SBN) program is to definitively address observed anomalies that may originate from short baseline neutrino oscillations and to search for evidence of the existence of light sterile neutrinos with unprecedented sensitivity in \(eV^2\) mass range. In the SBN experiment, the near detector (SBND) is close to the source and the intermediate detector is MicroBooNE and the far detector is named ICARUS and all the three detectors receive on-axis Booster Neutrino Beam (BNB). In this note, we will focus on the status of SBND and ICARUS experiment and describe how SBN will resolve a long-standing neutrino anomaly that can be explained by the existence of a new, non-interacting, “sterile” neutrino.
