How “Technology” Reshapes Education

Technology is reshaping all aspects of human life and it has become an important strategic choice for all countries in the world to promote educational reform and reshape the educational system through information technology. The logic for the application of technology in education is determined not by technical tools, but by the principles behind technology. Educational transformation driven by technology are essentially changes in educational technology, and the reshaping of education by technology is essentially the reshaping of the “technology for education” by technology. The core foundation supporting the development of educational technology is educational phenomena and educational laws. The discovery, capture and utilization of educational phenomena are the logical starting point for the reshaping of education by technology. To have the power to reshape education, a single technology needs to go through a process of combined evolution from singular technology and single technology to plural technology and combined technology, thus forming a “domain”. The reshaping of education essentially indicates the replacement of “domains”, a process of replacing old domains with new ones and redefining education. With the evolution of technology, education will undergo structural changes, and the educational system will be restructured by means of changing the entire set of educational methods, processes and organizational forms. Educational reform cannot be simply understood as the reform of educational technology. When education is reshaped by technology, technology will gradually replace our observation and thinking of education, and develop into a resistance to educational reform. The innovation of educational technology does not necessarily equate with the improvement of education.
