Design of Automatic Feeding Device for 15,000 Meter Class Liquid Drilling Fluid Additives

In order to improve automation, efficiency, and HSE level during drilling fluid preparation and maintenance of ultra-deep and extra-deep wells, an automatic feeding device for 15000 m class liquid drilling fluid additives was developed. The automatic feeding device of liquid drilling fluid additives is composed of liquid storage tanks, liquid conveying pumps, pipeline control valves and auxiliary devices. The liquid drilling fluid additives can be quickly transported to the liquid storage tanks by the suction pumps for temporary storage. When the drilling fluid is prepared or maintained, the drilling fluid additives can be quickly transported to the mud mixing system by the liquid metering pumps. It enables accurate, automatic, high-speed dosing of liquid additives into the mud mixing system for increased job flexibility and ease of use. The operator controls and monitors operations using human-computer interaction interface mounted on the control cabinet’s touchscreen. Operation parameters are set using the human-computer interaction interface. An information area on the touchscreen displays real-time system status whenever the system is running. The development of the device will create basic conditions for the automatic and intelligent of drilling fluid preparation and maintenance, and improve and the level of on-site HSE.
