HI Applications for ADHD Children: The Graphic Design Perspective
摘要
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, known as ADHD, is a neurological disorder. Parents, caregivers, and teachers can identify the presence of ADHD in children at a very young age. ADHD is incurable in nature. It has a negative impact on the academic, social, and personal lives of children living with ADHD (ChADHD). However, such a negative impact can be reduced by the planned use of different tools, techniques, and methods. A recent and effective way of managing ChADHD is the use of relevant health informatics (HI) applications. The content of HI applications needs to be designed using appropriate Visual Design Guidelines (VDG). Apparently, a careful review of the available literature suggests an absence of VDGs. Even if present, these guidelines are not detailed in ways suitable for content designers. This eventually leads to two major problems—(a) challenges before the designers design content for HI applications, and (b) the presence of HI applications with compromised content design. This work attempts to address these challenges through a careful analysis of available guidelines to evolve an improved set of VDGs. We work along with remedial experts and designers as part of our design process. Our guidelines are expert-validated and can be utilized directly by the content designers.
