Bioactive Electrospun Gelatin Membranes for Skin Wound Dressings
摘要
This literature review explores the novel applications of gelatin nanofibers obtained by electrospinning. This review used extensive data and previous literature to present the feasibility of using gelatin nanofibers in cutaneous wound dressings, particularly for wound healing in diabetic patients. There is a constant search for innovative and more practical wound treatment materials that can be more useful and effective, as current treatments represent a high cost for healthcare offices around the world. In this chapter, a review of recent literature on the development of wound dressings involving the use of bioactive gelatin membranes produced by electrospinning was performed. Throughout this chapter, the reader will find information on the materials, the process for the fabrication of the nanofibers, and the bioactive compounds that have been incorporated into these biomaterials to produce a therapeutic action at the site of application.
