Minimization of Structural Systems Eccentricity by Means of the Imperialist Competitive Algorithm
摘要
This study focuses on the minimization of the eccentricity of concrete multi-story buildings with large asymmetries. In general, asymmetric structures are prone to torsional response when subjected to dynamic excitations. Minimizing their eccentricity can thus elevate the developing torsional movement. The reduction of eccentricity can be accomplished using reinforced concrete (RC) jackets applied to the columns of the building. The minimization formulation developed aims to reduce the eccentricity among the mass center and the rigidity or strength centers through the application of RC jackets. The optimization algorithm employed for solving the minimization problem was set as the Imperialist Competitive Algorithm (ICA).
