摘要

Sustainable manufacturing is a method that focuses on producing goods with minimal environmental impact and maximized economic benefits. It involves incorporating sustainability at various production stages, such as design, materials selection, manufacturing processes, and supply chain management. Sustainable techniques like green, dry, cryogenic machining, and minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) are used to reduce environmental impact, waste, and energy consumption. Challenges like reduced tool life and increased tool wear exist, but the environmental and economic advantages outweigh them. Sustainable materials selection is crucial, aiming to choose materials with minimal negative impact on the environment, society, and economy while meeting the product's functional requirements. Tools like life cycle assessment, sustainable material databases, and design for sustainability aid in this process. Sustainable supply chain management is essential, focusing on managing the flow of materials, products, and information considering their environmental, social, and economic impacts. However, implementing sustainable manufacturing practices presents challenges such as lack of awareness, high implementation costs, lack of regulations, and resistance to change. However, research directions and opportunities, such as the development of sustainable materials, advancements in machining techniques, digital technologies integration, circular economy, and standards and regulations, present substantial possibilities for innovation in sustainable manufacturing. Stakeholders, including manufacturers, suppliers, policymakers, and consumers, must collectively prioritize, invest in, and promote sustainable manufacturing practices to achieve an environmentally friendly, socially responsible, and economically viable future.
