TRIZ Patented Literature Review on Automated Guided Vehicle Technology for Systematic Innovation

Automated guided vehicles (AGVs) offer many benefits in terms of increased efficiency, reduced labour costs, and improved safety. However, they also have some limitations that should be carefully considered before implementing them in an industrial setting. Therefore, improving the level of technology impact is critical to promoting the development of inventions and securing patents. From the academic perspective, a systematic literature review (SLR) can include patented literature, but some limitations and challenges are associated with including such literature. A patented literature review (PLR) can be considered a specialised form of SLR, with patents being a unique and valuable source of information in many fields. Furthermore, this study incorporates the concepts of theory of inventive problem solving (TRIZ) in the PLR concept to support innovation performance. TRIZ provides a model for understanding the evolution of technological systems and for identifying patterns and contradictions that can be used to generate innovative solutions. In a case study, AGVs are used to implement TRIZ-PLR on linked patents and produce high-value AGV collision solutions, demonstrating their importance in medical and healthcare. Finally, the study’s purpose, relevant patents, and findings are determined.
