Metabolic Regulation of Inflammation
摘要
Immune cells continuously guard the body through the bloodstream and disperse into various tissues where they are exposed to a variety of challenging environmental conditions. During inflammation, nutrient and oxygen supply of the surrounding tissues can vary, necessitating the metabolic rewiring of immune cells. Immune cells change their metabolic programme to adapt to the constantly changing environment and maintain an appropriate supply of biosynthetic material and energy to carry out effector functions. With advances in research, it has become clear that metabolism has a significant impact on the differentiation and activity of immune cells. In this book chapter, we have discussed about the metabolic adaptations and its regulation in immune cells during inflammation and also how metabolism of immune cells regulates their functional fate after activation.
