A Review on Role of Soft Computing (SC) Techniques in Microgrid Energy Management Systems

The microgrids are an ineluctable area of research in the field of electrical engineering as it made the utilisation of renewable energies more viable and the ability to serve the consumers in remote places. The dynamic behavioural aspects of the microgrid due to the intermittent nature of the renewable energy resources and certain other factors such as management of energy storage systems, performance degradation due to the lifetime of microgrid components, mandated approaches for providing energy to the end users in an optimal way that paved the necessitousness of Energy Management Approaches. The implementation of these strategies is accomplished by employing a multitude of conventional optimisation techniques. In recent decades, the evolution of soft computing techniques and their penetration into every research field are evident. Researchers use these techniques effectively to optimise energy in microgrids with these methods. This article provides a thorough analysis of soft computing techniques and their function in the field of energy management systems for microgrids.
