Gonioscopy
摘要
Gonioscopy is necessary when testing for glaucoma. It enables the visualization and magnification of the iridocorneal angle and helps identify its configuration, thereby aiding a proper diagnosis. The primary purpose of this test is to distinguish between angle closure and open-angle glaucoma and help diagnose the various open and closed angle varieties of secondary glaucoma by identifying the characteristics specific to these conditions. Currently, intraoperative gonioscopy is increasingly being used in angle-based surgeries. Although a simple technique, it takes years of practice to master the art of gonioscopy. Hence, practicing this technique as frequently as possible is advisable.
