Imaging in Cataract

Imaging tools help in optimizing refractive outcomes by assisting in the selection and placement of the IOL. Precise biometry measurements help minimize postoperative refractive errors, thereby improving visual acuity and reducing the need for corrective lenses after surgery. Imaging techniques such as optical coherence tomography (OCT), ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), and biometry help the surgeon in assessing the anatomical variations of the eye before surgery. Imaging helps surgeons to formulate a precise surgical plan tailored to the individual patient’s ocular anatomy and requirements. This chapter summarizes the imaging technologies that enhance surgical accuracy, improve refractive outcomes, and contribute to the overall success and safety of cataract surgery.
