Case Study Toward a Smart Building

As part of the energy strategy of the University Ibn Tofail, there is an approach to make the campus green, carbon neutral, positive energy and clean. We were tasked with translating energy savings, CO2, and bill reduction into numbers, and processing data from the smart library. The initial objective is to find the energy and economic impact of integrating intelligence via sensors, management communication protocols, and PLCs in the library. For this, we first addressed in our article the integration of renewable energy (RE) in the building. Renewable energy is represented by two fields, the facade, and the pergola. On the facade, the all blacks are producing 397 Wp for one panel. 60 panels are used in the facade producing a total power of 23.7 kW. The pergola contains 112 PV of total peak power equal to 42 kW. Subsequently, we have developed a study on the energy and economic impact of the integration of intelligence in the library. Specifically, this article focused on the DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) application.
