Automatic Anesthesia Telemonitoring and Control Using Electroencephalogram and Bispectral Index (BIS)
摘要
Before starting several surgical procedures in the operation room, a sedative product must be injected to relax the patient, and also to make the surgical procedure unpainful. But so far, the injected amount of propofol is determined by the visual inspection of the anesthetist. In this paper one automatic anesthesia method is proposed. This method is based on the usage of a brain computer interface system with the processing of the electroencephalogram (EEG) signal. The main target in this work is to detect the degree of anesthesia from the EEG signal and control the syringe driver accordingly. In order to carry out this system, an EEG headset MindWave Mobile 2 was used to record and transmit the brainwaves to the processing computer. LabVIEW program was used for signal processing and also to control the syringe driver via Wi-Fi. In this way and as it will be illustrated in the coming sections, the patient will receive only the needed amount of propofol.
