Modeling and Super-Twisting Sliding Mode Control of a Wireless Power Transfer Charger

This paper discusses a wireless power transfer (WPT) system for charging battery electric vehicles (BEVs). First, we reviewed the literature on different papers to understand the history of EVs and their type of charging systems. Then, we modeled the WPT system in a mathematical model to determine the nonlinearity of the system. Based on the mathematical model, we proposed a nonlinear controller using the super-twisting sliding mode control (STSMC). We performed a simulation of the different scenarios using MATLAB/Simulink to compare this type of control with a conventional PI controller.
