Performance Testing of Single Slope Solar Still by Using Soybean Wax as PCM
摘要
Single slope solarSolar still (s4) refers to the technology of salinizing seawaterSeawater into fresh water. The evaporation process of seawaterSeawater had based on heat from the sun. These distiller devices needed to be explored and developed for their application in the future. The objective of this experiment was experimental testing of single slope solarSolar still introducing the use of Phase Change Material (PCM). The PCM material used was soybeanSoybean waxWax. Considering this material had a low melting point and appropriate thermal conductivity. The testing process was conducted for five consecutive days to obtain the average data distribution from 07.00 to 22.00 WIB GMT+7. The result of the conventional S4 was compared with the result of the PCM introduced. The distilled water production increased by 31.31%. This experimental testing also found physical phenomena of seawaterSeawater temperature difference. These conditions are related to the phase change phenomena of PCM as defined by the charging and recharging process.
