Effect of Eco-Friendly Alkaline Treatment on Tensile Properties of Pineapple Leaf Fibres
摘要
In this work, the pineapplePineapple leaf fibresFibre (PALF) were subjected to an alkalineAlkaline treatment using different concentrations of sodium bicarbonate (5% and 10%) for a duration of 96 h at room temperature. The primary objective of this study is to analyse the impactImpact of various treatment processes on PALF's strength and Young's modulus. The tensile single fibreFibre test was carried out using 20 mm gauge length on UTM attached with 50N load cell capacity. The finding indicate that the treated fibresFibre in 5% concentration NaHCO3 solution exhibit a remarkable 43% enhancement in tensile strength and a 24% improvement in Young's modulus compared to their untreated PALF.
