The Effect of Pickling Type on Corrosion Rate of SUS 304
摘要
CorrosionCorrosion caused by picklingPickling, an acidic liquid used to clean weld marks on SUS 304, is identified as a leading factor in damaging Casing AC Units produced by a manufacturing company. This study aims to examine the corrosionCorrosion rates of SUS 304 specimens taken from AC unit casings using three commonly used picklingPickling types in the Indonesian market: liquid picklingPickling, picklingPickling gel A, and picklingPickling gel B. The potentiostat method was employed to assess the corrosionCorrosion rates of SUS 304 in these three picklingPickling variations. The corrosionCorrosion test results indicated that the lowest corrosionCorrosion rate was observed in SUS 304 treated with liquid picklingPickling, measuring 0.23 mmpy. In comparison, the variation involving picklingPickling gel B resulted in a corrosionCorrosion rate of 0.7 mmpy, while the highest corrosionCorrosion rate of 109.82 mmpy was recorded in SUS 304 subjected to picklingPickling gel A. PicklingPickling gel A has a more complex acid composition than other picklingPickling types. The complex acid composition will make the steelSteels corrode faster.
