摘要

This chapter provides an in-depth exploration of non-IP-based IoT communication and the associated security challenges. It commences by elucidating non-IP communication systems and juxtaposing them with IP-based communication. A detailed examination of the merits and drawbacks of non-IP communication ensues. Moreover, the chapter delves into the realm of security issues inherent in non-IP-based IoT communication. In this context, we delve into the various threats and attacks that could jeopardize the confidentiality and integrity of non-IP-based communication technologies, exposing their inherent vulnerabilities and risks. To illustrate these concerns, we scrutinize real-world case studies that depict instances of non-IP-based IoT communication, dissecting the security issues and proposing potential solutions for each scenario. Furthermore, this work incorporates mathematical models designed to assess non-IP communication protocols and IoT device security issues. These models find practical application in a case study, where we employ them to analyze and predict the behavior of a non-IP communication protocol. We also emphasize the significance of adhering to security standards and best practices when establishing non-IP-based IoT connectivity. These principles furnish a comprehensive framework for constructing secure communication protocols, underscoring the importance of proactive security measures. Lastly, as we peer into the future of non-IP-based communication, we advocate for ongoing vigilance and comprehensive study to ensure its seamless and secure integration into IoT ecosystems.
