Application of Temporal Envelope Extracted by Square Root of the Three-Phase Currents for Dynamic Eccentricity Fault Diagnosis Within Inverter-Fed Induction Machine

This paper presents an accurate and robust technique for dynamic eccentricity fault diagnosis in case of inverter fed-induction machine operating at various load conditions. The proposed method uses the three phase currents to extract their temporal envelope to subsequently perform a spectral analysis. This technique is theoretical described, and it is then experimentally confirmed using three phase current data acquired from two distinct induction machines: a healthy machine and a machine with dynamic eccentricity. Results obtained are very interesting and illustrate the effectiveness and the robustness of the suggested approach.
