Control of the Glucose Insulin Glucagon System in Type 1 Diabetes

Insulin injection therapy is required for patients have diabetes type 1, capable to regulate the level of sugar in body within normal range. The development of artificial pancreas is given as a solution to maintain normoglycemia and ensure a safe life for patients. In this paper, we develop a robust controller to regulate the glucidic metabolism for type 1 diabetes founded on Integral Sliding Mode Control ISMC. An augmented model takes into consideration the dynamics of glucose, glucagon and insulin is presented. The obtained results show that the controller can perform well in different meals ingested and different patient conditions.
