Linear Quadratic Regulator Control of Heating System in Office Building

摘要

Currently, a considerable portion of the world’s energy is consumed by the building sector more than any other sector. Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems constitute the majority of building energy use in the tertiary sector, heating is the most important consumption item. In this paper, an optimized linear quadratic controller for regulating the indoor temperature within an office building to the desired one is proposed. The goal is to decrease the energy consumption while maintaining the high occupant thermal comfort. The proposed algorithm is effectively presented using an office work temperature control example developed in the SIMBAD toolbox (SIMulator of Buildings and Devices). Simulation results show the property of this control strategy is its ability to find a compromise between its robustness and its performance despite the presence of environmental disturbances.
