Ransomware Detection and Mitigation Using Quantum Cryptographic Techniques: Online Gaming Framework
摘要
Ransomware attacks have impacted various sectors of IT from which Online gaming is a major target. In online gaming, cyber extortion has emerged as a significant threat. These attacks deploy vulnerabilities in gaming networks, aiming at both distinct players and gaming companies. Cybercriminals use sophisticated strategies and then encrypt crucial data or block user’s accounts, asking for ransom payments often in cryptocurrencies to give back access to their respective accounts. The disruption caused by these attacks not only affects gaming but also poses financial and reputational risks to gaming industries. These attacks have amplified concerns about data security and integrity. The far-reaching implications include financial losses, impacts on user trust, and damage to the game network’s reputation. To combat the rising threat of ransomware attacks in online gaming leveraging quantum cryptography appears as a potential solution. (Quantum Key Distribution) QKD allows the creation of encryption keys using quantum properties the execution of intercepted data inexplicable to hackers. QKD is used to securely transfer user data on gaming networks intercepting and compromising the data shared over the same network. We propose quantum cryptographic techniques to enhance security in online gaming networks which to the best of our knowledge has still not been proposed in this industry.
