Following a natural disaster, the effective provision of post-disaster housing plays a pivotal and imperative role in mitigating suffering and expediting community relief and recovery efforts. In a world where no region is immune to the increasing frequency and severity of disasters, the escalating climate crisis places an added responsibility on governments to provide efficient solutions for temporary housing for those affected. Consequently, there is a growing demand for sustainable models of temporary house construction, as an alternative to costly and heavy traditional building materials. The present study investigates the application of a recently devised category of hybrid timber-cardboard sandwich (TCS) panels to a skillion roof temporary house. A parametric design tool is developed for the design and optimisation of hybrid timber-cardboard elements within a complete temporary housing assembly. Structural design is conducted according to relevant Australian Standards, encompassing the roof and wall panels and considering both strength and serviceability limit states.
