Alias6: An IPv6 Alias Resolution Technology Based on Multiple Fingerprint Features

Aiming at the problems of existing IPv6 alias resolution technologies relying on single fingerprint features and incomplete resolution, this paper designs and implements Alias6, an IPv6 alias resolution technology based on multiple fingerprint features. For IPv6 routers, IPID (Internet Protocol Identification) continuity features are obtained through induced fragmentation, combined with Hop Limit differences to determine alias relationships, and verified using alias transmissibility. For IPv6 hosts, alias prefixes are identified through random address generation and active address detection, then prefix matching is utilized to realize IPv6 alias resolution. In addition, this paper introduces SSH (Secure Shell) protocol fingerprints (public key hash and algorithmic list) as the unique identification of devices, which complements IPv6 alias resolution of the routers and hosts. A typical IPv6 network environment is built to assess the performance of Alias6, and experimental results show that compared with the traditional technology APD (Alias Prefix Detection), the number of IPv6 alias address pairs discovered by Alias6 improves by 328%, 269%, and 231% on IPv6 address sets with address numbers of 10,000, 20,000, and 30,000, respectively.
