Borders of Despair: Rohingya Statelessness in Thailand

The forced displacement of Rohingya from Myanmar has triggered the most complex and prolonged refugee crisis in the region. Hundreds of thousands of Rohingya have fled across borders in search of safety due to systematic persecution, statelessness, and violent cycles, most notably the military crackdowns in 2012, 2015, and 2017. The primary destination for Rohingya has been Bangladesh, but Thailand has emerged as a host and crucial transit country.
