More than 50 million individuals are affected by dementia, a neurodegenerative disorder, which is expected to increase fourfold in the next three decades. Severe behavioural and cognitive problems such as forgetfulness, confusion, and inability to make sound decisions are as a result of this disease. These symptoms lead to patients’ severely impaired mobility and are often extremely stressful on patients as well as caretakers. Routine surveillance to address such issues is essential due to patient safety, health, or well-being complications; this may make caregivers burned out or lower overall service delivery. Traditional methods of caregiving practices that largely rely on surveillance are often wanted, especially in cases of emergency or wandering. These problems can be solved through the possibility of technology. However, currently there are systems available where attention is paid to one particular solution, for example GPS tracking or medication reminders, and do not have a complex platform that would be capable of meeting the demands of dementia care.
