IoT-Driven Real-Time Air Quality Monitoring: A Comparative Study of Sensing Techniques
摘要
The increase in air pollution is becoming a more significant danger for both people’s well-being and the environment, as prolonged contact with harmful substances like carbon monoxide can lead to serious health issues. Conventional air quality monitoring methods, like permanent stations, are costly and not ideal for broad use, especially in urban areas and remote locations to tackle this problem, we propose a more affordable and convenient alternative: an Internet of Things (IoT) system that monitors air quality instantly. Our system utilizes inexpensive, compact sensors to oversee important air pollutants, like levels of CO, along with environmental conditions such as temperature. This information is shown in a simple format, with CO levels in percentages and temperature in Celsius, giving immediate feedback. The gadget utilizes wireless connection to send information to the cloud, enabling users to check air quality from any place through an easy online platform. This design is ideal for constant, live monitoring, whether at home, work, or outside. Unlike traditional monitoring systems, this IoT solution is easy to implement and scale, suitable for various environments. Our ultimate objective is to enhance the efficiency of the system by incorporating sensors for more pollutants like nitrogen dioxide and particulate matter, while also utilizing machine learning to predict air quality patterns. We aim to provide an affordable and all-encompassing solution that enables citizens to address air pollution.
