A Note on Seismic Resilience Evaluation of Buildings in the Indian Himalayan Region
摘要
This study presents a brief review of various seismic resilience assessment frameworks proposed worldwide and examines their applicability in the context of the buildings situated in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). Assessment of seismic resilience for the infrastructure located in the hilly regions, such as the IHR, is unique in nature primarily attributed to the challenges present in the form of topography and local construction practices. Although there exist enough studies related to the seismic vulnerability assessment of building infrastructure situated in the IHR, seismic resilience of the same is not explored adequately. Therefore, in the present study, an attempt has been made to highlight the research gaps and future needs to assess seismic resilience of buildings in the IHR subjected to earthquake shaking. Urgent intervention to fill the identified research gaps is crucial to aid the stakeholders in strengthening the ongoing efforts toward seismic risk mitigation of the vulnerable building stock and planning the necessary measures prior to any future earthquake event in this region.
