The chapter discusses the intersections of public policy, law and the psychological science in reference to the developmental lifespan of childhood, in particular through the JJ Act, 2016 as well as to some extent the POCSO Act, 2012. The first section discusses the key philosophical questions of psychology, public policy and the specific law. The second section briefly describes the law and its key characteristics. The third section identifies the concepts and research evidence in psychology to examine the central questions in the JJ Act, 2016 and the POCSO Act, 2012. The chapter closes with implications for future research and public policy advocacy, particularly in reference to the gaps in implementation as well as applications for professionals in psychology and public policy.
