Application of Lie Symmetry to a Mathematical Model for COVID-19

In this paper, we consider a system of nonlinear ordinary differential equations arising from the proposed SIQHR model governing the transmission dynamics of COVID-19. Lie’s infinitesimal transformation method can be readily used to find closed-form similarity solutions which can be characterized in terms of symmetries. The Lie symmetry method is used in the study of the proposed model to illustrate how it complements the traditionally used qualitative and numerical mathematical techniques.
