摘要

In an era defined by rapid technological evolution, artificial intelligence (AI) has emerged as a formidable force in industrial design and manufacturing. This review delves into the myriad ways AI technologies—including machine learning, computer vision, and robotics—are interwoven into the intricate tapestry of manufacturing processes, spanning product design, prototyping, and production. With AI-driven design tools, creativity flourishes as mundane tasks become automated, enabling designers to explore a plethora of design iterations and foresee potential pitfalls. In the manufacturing realm, AI enhances real-time monitoring, optimizes quality control, and implements predictive maintenance, thereby curbing downtime and slashing production costs. This discourse shines a spotlight on AI’s pivotal role in smart manufacturing environments, exemplified by Industry 4.0, where intelligent systems harness data to foster flexible production lines and informed decision-making. However, the path to AI adoption is strewn with challenges, including a dearth of skilled personnel, data privacy issues, and the ethical quandaries posed by automation. Furthermore, the review anticipates future trends, particularly the convergence of AI with ground-breaking technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and digital twins, poised to further redefine the industrial landscape. This exploration emphasizes AI’s transformative potential, not only in bolstering productivity and innovation but also in nurturing sustainable and intelligent manufacturing solutions.
