Formability of Al-Cu Bi-Layered Sheets by Laser Forming Process

In the present work, experiments were performed to analyse the bend angle and microstructural attributes of Al-Cu bi-layered sheets during laser forming process. The laser beam is focused on the workpiece surface of Al in order to obtain the bending, as compared with the Cu surface. Both single and multi-scan laser passes were considered. It was found that the measured bend angle is increased by 110% when the number of laser scan passes increases up to five passes. The microstructural attributes were also analysed in both single- and multi-scan laser passes.
