Investigation of Microstructure and Mechanical Properties of Al-7075 Reinforced with Si3N4 Alloy Metal Matrix Composites

The microstructural properties of aluminium 7075 alloy reinforced with Micro (M) Si3N4 particles are examined in this work. In order to improve the mechanical properties of the base alloy, Si3N4 particles were included as reinforcement in the stir casting process used to create the composite materials. The distribution, interaction, and incorporation of Micro Si3N4 inside the Al7075 matrix were observed using microstructural investigation utilising optical and scanning electron microscopy. The findings demonstrate how well the Si3N4 particles disperse and interact with the aluminium matrix, improving the microstructural integrity. The study provides insights into the material’s applicability for advanced engineering applications by highlighting the possibility of Micro Si3N4 reinforcement in improving the mechanical performance of Al7075.
