Implementation of Nanobubble Technology for Shrimp Culture
摘要
The growing global demand for aquaculture has spurred the industry to explore and adopt innovative, sustainable practices. These advancements strive to enhance aquaculture yields while simultaneously improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental footprints, and minimizing the reliance on chemicals all without jeopardizing the health and well-being of aquatic animals. In the specific context of shrimp aquaculture, one pressing challenge is managing water quality effectively. Maintaining appropriate levels of dissolved oxygen is critical, as it plays a vital role in the growth and welfare of shrimp. Unfortunately, traditional aeration methods often fall short in terms of efficiency and sustainability, leading to less than optimal conditions in aquaculture environments. Enter nanobubble technology, a game-changing approach that has shown remarkable promise in improving oxygen transfer within aquatic systems. This technology generates ultrafine bubbles—known as nanobubbles (NBs)—which possess exceptional properties, such as high gas solubility and extended residence times in water. These spherical gas-filled cavities, measuring less than 1 μm in diameter, can exist either suspended in the bulk of the water (bulk NBs) or adhere to surfaces (surface NBs). The minute size of these nanobubbles allows for unparalleled dispersion and penetration throughout the water column. As they release dissolved oxygen, they not only enhance oxygenation but also contribute to a range of additional benefits. Implementing nanobubble technology in shrimp culture offers various advantages, including significantly improved oxygenation efficiency, enhanced water quality management, reduced stress levels on the shrimp, and ultimately, increased growth rates leading to higher overall productivity. These benefits underline the transformative potential of nanobubble technology in promoting a more sustainable and productive approach to aquaculture.
