Development of Cuffless Blood Pressure Monitoring Device

There has been a significant rise in the deaths due to cardiovascular diseases where blood pressure has been underlying and a silent killer which usually causes an increase in mortality rate. The symptoms generally remain unidentified hence being uncontrolled causing severe issues for cardiovascular deaths. This problem has led to the development of cuffless blood pressure monitor, which has the methodology to track BP anytime, anywhere and alarm patients when the level goes beyond the acceptable limits. Cuffless blood pressure monitors provide simplicity, comfort, and continuous monitoring, making them excellent for treating hypertension and other cardiovascular disorders. This paper focuses on the development of cuffless blood pressure monitor by integrating the use of an electrocardiogram (ECG) and photoplethysmography (PPG) sensor which facilitates continuous BP monitoring helping in round the clock BP monitoring. These devices have potent ability to convert the electrical activity of heart into continuous blood pressure data by recording signals from the sensor. It enables in accurate monitoring of data as it is driven on the principle of pulse transit time which focuses on explicit examination of blood flow and body movements.
