This research focuses on labour migration as a critical aspect of the economic relationship between India and Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, examining the challenges faced by Indian migrant workers in the GCC nations and proposing strategies for improvement through policy and practice. A field survey conducted in the eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, India, was utilized to investigate the issues encountered by Indian migrants during the migration process, both within India and in the GCC countries. The survey findings reveal that delayed wage payment and insufficient actual wage compensation represent the primary concerns experienced by labourers in the GCC countries. Additionally, the results indicate that intermediaries and a lack of awareness about their rights contribute significantly to the problems encountered by immigrant workers. Consequently, this chapter suggests that the Indian government should take an active role in resolving these issues, such as by implementing mandatory workshops for migrants to educate them about the rules and regulations of GCC countries.
