Cost-Effective High-Speed Imaging of Droplet Impact with a DSLR Camera
摘要
We developed a cost-effective, high-speed imaging system with a regular digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) to explore the impact characteristics of droplets. A stroboscopy-based strategy is followed to vary the timing of the camera flash and thus capture the exact instant of interest using a microcontroller-based circuit, avoiding an expensive high-speed camera. Using this, four different case studies have been examined to demonstrate the capabilities of such off-the-shelf systems to carry out fundamental scientific investigations.
