Recovering Energy Potential Through ASRU for Agricultural Dependent Hydropower Plant
摘要
Energy supply from electricity has been increased from 19 to 23% from 2010 to 2020, and for this renewable sources has contributed 30% electricity globally. Electricity can be generated from impulse, reaction, axial type of hydropower turbine. Limited turbine capacity, functional restrictions of power units, necessary withdrawal of water from dam and continuously changing weather, demands viable and flexible solution of power generation. Thus, all possible options of power generations should be explored. Canal sites, irrigation dependent hydropower plant, small hydropower plant are the targeted opportunities of power generation. The nexus of such locations and power generation should be emphasized to generate power. Understanding need of hydropower generation, this paper proposes the solution of Archemedes screw recovery unit (ASRU). To explore the use of ASRU, the case study of irrigation dependent power station at Dhom from Wai, Maharashtra, has been considered. This reservoir has two irrigation gates. The two gates are suggested with ASRU. The endeavor of this study is to propose the feasibility of ASRU for power generation. ASRU would able to generate additional power in the range of 455.4–559.3 kW from discharge after two gates for obtained efficiency range of 67–82.25% in addition to 2 MW.
