Gray Relational Analysis of D3 Steel Using Vertical Machining Center
摘要
In today’s manufacturing scenario, optimization of process parameters needs to be carried out to obtain optimal material removal rate (MRR) and other output parameters. For this, an experimental investigation needs to be carried out effectively to obtain the experimental data. This chapter presents an experimental exploration employing the vertical machining center (VMC) to machine D3 material. The investigation explores the influence of various input factors, such as feed rate, cutting speed, and cutting depth, on output parameters, such as MRR and surface roughness (SR). The Taguchi method is employed for designing of experiments, and gray rational grade is calculated with an aim to optimize MRR while minimizing SR. L27 orthogonal array is employed for designing the experiment. The study aims to establish a definitive correlation between input and output parameters and provide an efficient approach for optimizing the machining process. The results significantly affect the machining industry and advance our understanding of machining D3 material with a VMC.
