Applications of Nano-biopolymers in Medicine and Environmental

The study of biopolymer properties for developing new technologies is crucial today. Addressing environmental issues in areas such as water and soil treatment necessitates the search for new materials. Biopolymers, with their biodegradability and biological origin, are a promising option due to their effectiveness and sustainability in these processes. The versatility of biopolymers allows for the creation of numerous structures with desired characteristics, such as nanometric scales for controlled drug release devices. These devices optimize drug administration by reducing dosage and potential side effects. The interactions achievable with different biopolymers also make them effective in water remediation processes. This chapter presents the general concepts of biopolymer applications in medicine and environmental remediation.
