Application of MXenes in Renewable Energy Systems

With an emphasis on their various uses in solar cells (SC), photo-detectors, and sensing energy conversion technologies, this chapter examines the promising role of MXenes (MXs) in renewable energy systems. Because of their superior electrical conductivity, adjustable surface chemistry, and high mechanical strength, the MX family of two-dimensional materials has drawn a lot of interest and is a prime contender to improve the efficiency of renewable energy devices. With highly adaptable qualities that put such structure at the forefront of technological innovation, MX has quickly become a ground-breaking class of materials. Based on their extraordinary development, MX-based materials are now recognized as flexible platforms for a variety of uses, offering a toolkit for the customized design of cutting-edge materials that can solve present and upcoming social issues. MX's distinct physicochemical properties including remarkable thermal, electrical, optical, and mechanical properties—are the cause of the rise in unanticipated applications.
