Tremorassist3d: Developing a Low-Cost 3d-Printed Weight Bracelet Prototype for Upper Limb Tremor Management

The objective of this study was to develop a low-cost weight bracelet prototype that aims to assist in the management of tremors in the upper limbs. Tremors can significantly affect a person’s daily activities and overall quality of life. The study is conducted as qualitative research, following the principles of Design Science Research. This methodology allows for the exploration of practical solutions to real-world problems while considering both theoretical and empirical perspectives. The project seeks to promote access to this device and offer a versatile and adaptable solution for improving the occupational performance and quality of life of individuals experiencing tremors. It presents a prototype bracelet developed using 3D printing technology, built through the partnership between a product designer and an occupational therapist. With the added weight achieved through the filling of capsules, the prototype demonstrated favorable results in terms of the cost of production and the possibility of customization.
