Bioenergetical Ergonomic Assessment and Metabolic Demand in Market Workers in Mexico City

An ergonomic evaluation of workers with manual load handling in market activities, bioenergetic analysis and the metabolic demand required by the task were carried out to analyze the resulting ergonomic risks; this study is quantitative, cross-sectional, descriptive; the evaluation was about 8 workers in Mexico City, during the month of May 2024. Ergonomic evaluation was accordance with the Official Mexican Standard of the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare: NOM-036-1-STPS-2018; bioenergetic analysis and metabolic demand were carried out according to NTP 295, NTP 177 and Manero test. The handling of loads exceeds the recommended limit value for age; there is an increase in the acceleration of the cardiovascular system in all workers, in addition to the fact that the energy expenditure of the task is very heavy, the energy expenditure required by the job is greater than the physical capacity of the workers and a high level of risk was presented.
