Personality-Based Video Game Preference of Young Japanese People
摘要
This study examines the relationship between video game genre preferences and the Big Five personality factors among young Japanese people. The research aims to predict their favoured game genres through the analysis of users’ personality traits and compares the results performed in other countries. Utilizing self-report measures, 73 participants rated their preferences for various game genres and completed a questionnaire assessing Big Five personality traits. We perform factor analysis to categorize game genres based on preferences, categorize participants by clustering, and conduct a two-way mixed ANOVA to examine the relationship between clusters and Big Five personality traits. Comparison of the results in this study with other studies outside of Japan revealed both consistent and inconsistent findings.
