Packages and Custom Commands

One of the most powerful features of LaTeX is its extensibility through packages and user-defined commands. Though the core functionality of LaTeX provides everything needed to create basic documents, most real-world documents require additional features, such as advanced mathematical notation, customized formatting, colorful diagrams, or refined bibliography handling, that are made possible through the use of packages.
