Internationalization of Moroccan Higher Education Curricula: Current State, Opportunities, and Challenges at M5UR, SMBAU, and CAU
摘要
Over the last few decades, internationalization has moved from a relatively minor aspect to a central element of higher education priorities. Current internationalization practices in Moroccan universities exhibit limited inclusivity, with only a select few students benefiting from mobility programs. Consequently, institutions must reassess their internationalization models to adopt a more comprehensive approach, extending internationalized experiences to a broader spectrum of students and staff. Central to this endeavor is the internationalization of curricula, offering students intercultural skills and global exposure in their home country. This study aims to elucidate the significance of curriculum internationalization while delineating associated opportunities and challenges. Employing a mixed-methods approach, it addresses three research inquiries: (i) the extent of internationalization in Moroccan higher education curricula, (ii) student perceptions of curriculum internationalization, and (iii) the opportunities and challenges inherent in this process. By shedding light on these aspects, the study introduces novel perspectives and practical implementation strategies for curriculum internationalization.
