Women’s Reproductive Mental Health in Bhutan
摘要
This chapter explores women’s reproductive psychiatry in Bhutan, examining the intersection of mental health and reproductive health within the unique socio-cultural and healthcare context of the country. It highlights the psychological challenges faced by Bhutanese women during key reproductive phases such as menstruation, pregnancy, postpartum, and menopause. The chapter delves into the cultural perceptions of mental health, the stigma surrounding psychiatric care, and the accessibility of mental health services for women. Additionally, it discusses the integration of traditional Bhutanese healing practices with modern psychiatric approaches and the role of family and community support in women’s mental well-being. Through a review of existing literature, case studies, and interviews with mental health professionals in Bhutan, this chapter aims to provide a comprehensive understanding of the mental health landscape for women in reproductive stages and emphasizes the need for culturally sensitive mental health interventions and policies in the country.
